Placeholder attribute information
Overview
This document explains the different placeholders that have been configured within RPI and how they can be used within selection rules.
The list of placeholders can and will change over time.
About placeholder attributes
Placeholder attributes can be used for two purposes in selection rules:
The primary use case is to use a placeholder attribute as the comparison attribute when creating a compare to attribute criterion. You can then specify a value for the placeholder attribute using the Attribute Placeholders dialog.
The secondary use case is to create a criterion within a selection rule based on a placeholder attribute, and then use the value provided for the placeholder attribute to activate or deactivate an 'OR' statement within the rule.
In both cases, if a selection rule contains placeholder attributes, the Attribute Placeholders dialog can be used at the audience, cell list, and interaction designers to provide placeholder values to use during audience or interaction workflow execution.
Pre-created placeholder attributes
Offer history placeholder attributes
There are a set of placeholder (PH) attributes that have been created to be used in queries that are going against the Offer History (OH) table for either selection or suppression rules. These placeholder attributes are located in RPI/Attributes/Placeholders/Offer History
.
PH Offer Activity Name Target: Used for selection based on the Offer Activity Name within Offer History from a previous campaign run.
PH Offer Activity Name Suppression: Used for suppression based on the Offer Activity Name within Offer History from a previous campaign run.
PH OH Start Minutes - Target: Used for a selection rule to select a start time to select records from Offer History for a previously run campaign.
PH OH End Minutes - Target: Used for a selection rule to select an end time to select records from Offer History for a previously run campaign.
PH OH Start Minutes - Suppression: Used for a suppression rule to select a start time to select records from Offer History for a previously run campaign.
PH OH End Minutes - Suppression: Used for a suppression rule to select an end time to select records from Offer History for a previously run campaign.
Lookup table placeholder attributes
This group of placeholder attributes have been created from the different look up tables within the data model. Each of the tables associated with the placeholders will need to be joined to the audience definitions with RPI as they are available. All of these placeholder attributes are derived from a value list using the associated database table.
