Google Analytics

Google Analytics Setup

This section describes how to set up Google Analytics. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Log into a Google account and go to https://analytics.google.com/analytics/.

  2. Click on the Start Measuring Button.

  3. Provide the name of your account (usually a company name) and click Next.

  1. Provide a Property Name and select Reporting Time Zone and Currency. Click Next.

  1. Set your industry category and business size. Click Next.

  1. Set your business objectives. Click Create.

  1. Read the Terms of Service Agreement. Tick the Accept checkbox and click “I Accept.”

  1. Select your platform.

  1. Provide the website URL and Stream name, then click Create stream. At Web stream details, Click on View tag instructions to install a tag on your website.

  2. Click the Install manually tab, which provides guidance on copying and pasting a Google tag.

  1. Click the All Accounts dropdown menu at the upper left side of the page. Copy the numbers as they will be required in RPI: Analytics Account number (Account profile ID) and Property number (Property ID.).

Google Analytics OAuth configuration

This section describes how to configure a Google Analytics web adapter in RPI using OAuth authentication. Please follow the steps below:

  1. In a web browser, log into https://console.developers.google.com/apis to acquire oAuth credentials such as Client ID, Client Secret and Redirect URI.

  2. Click Select a project > New Project > Create.

  1. Enter your Project name and click the Create button.

  1. Select the OAuth consent screen in the left menu, select choose User Type and click the Create button.

  1. Add Application name, Support email, Authorized domain and Developer content information, then click the Save and Continue button.
    Copy Authorized domain, as this will be used as the adapter’s Website URL.

  1. Add Scope (1):

    1. Filter on ‘Google Analytics API (3). Tick the ‘Google Analytics API [scope ../auth/analytics]’ and ‘Google Analytics API [scope ../auth/analytics.readonly]’ checkboxes. Click Update. Click Save and Continue.

    2. If you cannot find Google Analytics Data Api, click on Google API Library Link (2):

      1. At the search field, type ‘Google Analytics API’.

      2. Click on ‘Google Analytics API’. Click ‘Enable’ and do the same for ‘Google Analytics Reporting API’ and ‘Google Analytics Data API’.

      3. Go back to 6a.

  2. Add Test Users or skip. Click Save and Continue.

  3. Complete all 4 steps in the OAuth consent screen, and then click the Back to Dashboard button.

  1. Go to Credentials. Click Create Credentials. Select OAuth client ID from the dropdown list.

  1. From the Application type dropdown list, select Web application, then enter the name of the OAuth 2.0 client.

  1. Copy your Client ID and Client Secret for RPI configuration.
