Data Viewer tool

If your project includes one or more Data Viewer tools, you can select the Data Viewer pane to examine the results after the project is run or while it is running. Note that if you rename a Data Viewer tool (recommended), Data Viewer tabs will display the specified name.

The Data Viewer has several features that make it easier to navigate the data:

  • Use the Find in Data button (binoculars icon) and text box to locate specified case-insensitive text values in the data, or go to a specified row number. Enter the special values <<Null>> and <<Error>> to search for null and error values.

  • Select the Show/Hide Columns button to specify which columns to display.

  • Select the Refresh button to reload the displayed data.

  • Select the Fit button (4 arrows) to optimize the data display. Fit columns accommodates the wider of each column's header or data. Other choices are Fit columns to data and Fit columns to header.

  • Select the Save button (down arrow) to save the data as a Data Management DLD or CSV format file.

  • Select a column header to sort the data by that column.

Note that the amount of data that can be sorted is limited to about 500,000 records. To see all records in sorted order, add a Sort tool upstream of the Data Viewer tool and re-run the project.

Select text in the Data View grid and press Ctrl+C to copy text to the Windows Clipboard in tab-delimited format. This can take a long time if you select thousands of rows.

You can change the way Data Viewer tools display data by Configuring user settings.

If you started a project from a schedule, or using rpdm_cmd, the Data Viewer is not active and you will not see any records in it after attaching to the project.
