Create an email offer

Overview

Offers are the actual message that sends to a target via your service provider. You can design offers for a variety of different delivery methods, including email, SMS, Data Extract, and more.

You will need to have some basic knowledge of HTML in order to create many types of offers.

The video below walks through the creation of an email offer. This process is documented in detail on this page.

Open the Offer Designer

In this use case, we’re a retailer that’s running a summer sale. We’re going to create an offer email to promote this summer sale. The first step in building a selection rule is navigating to the Offer Designer.

To get to the Offer Designer:

1. From the RPI home page, go to the quick access menu and select Content > Offers.

2. Choose Email Offer.

The Offer Designer is now open. We’re going to build the offer in the following sections.

Configure the offer properties

The first thing to do when building an offer is to configure the offer properties. These properties determine the Sender & Subject information, the Purpose & Format, and include a few Advanced Options as well.

The steps below are the minimum requirements for configuring the email offer properties. You may wish to further configure these properties beyond what is described here.

To configure the offer properties:

1. From the toolbar, select Properties.

2. For the Sender Details Mode field, select Specify sender details using text from the dropdown.

3. Enter the Sender Email and Sender Name.

4. Enter a subject line for the email.

5. Select Done.

Add HTML Email Content

Next, we’re going to add the HTML content. We recommend pre-building the HTML you want to use for the offer, and testing it beforehand.

To add HTML content:

1. On the Home tab, under Mode, select HTML.

2. In the Raw HTML Editor section, add your HTML content. A preview of the HTML content will appear to the right.

3. (Optional) Drag and drop attributes into your HTML for added customization.

Generate Text Email Content

Our offer is almost complete! The final step is to generate text content to go along with the HTML. All HTML content must have corresponding text content.

To generate text content:

1. Go to the Text Email Content tab.

2. Manually add content to the Plain Text Email Content section, OR select Generate Text from HTML to automatically generate content.

Finalize your offer

Now that our offer is built, all we need to do is name and save the offer to make it ready to use.

To name and save the offer:

1. Select the default name “New Offer*” and enter a unique name for the offer.

2. Select the Save button from the toolbar.

3. Choose a location to save your rule.

4. Select Save.

Your offer is complete and ready to use.

(Optional) Send a test email

After saving your offer, you have the option to send a test email to review the details of your offer to make sure it all looks right.

To send a test email:

1. In the toolbar, select Actions and choose Send Test Emails from the dropdown.

2. Fill in the recipient(s) of the email and choose a channel to send the email through.

3. Select OK.
